Islands have become a painful symbol of the impact of climate change. On one hand, there are islands disappearing from the world due to the rise of sea levels (one of the climate change effects). And on the other hand, new islands are appearing, but made of plastic, which increase the temperature of the earth, rising the sea levels. That's why Corona Beer, in its commitment to fighting against plastics, decided to design and build an island as a symbol of hope to show the world that it is possible to protect them and live in peace with nature. Corona Island is the first island in the world certified as plastic free by Oceanic Global. It was built with 100% plastic free organic materials. And all structures were shaped around the design that nature had already made, preserving the environment. And were built taking into account the course of the ocean's winds, reducing energy waste; and at a specific height to allow the nesting and movement of turtles around the island. Furthermore, the visitors lived different experiences that reconnected them with nature, teaching them that a life with less plastic is possible. Each experience had an educational and transformative purpose for them and the island: they restored mangroves and corals for the revitalization of the region's fauna and flora; their food menu was made from responsible fishing along with a zero waste program; they had mindfulness experiences; and the possibility of interacting with native animals and observing turtle nesting
